MASSE SPEAKING AT INTERNATIONAL SUMMIT ON BORDERS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 20, 2018

MASSE ATTENDING INTERNATIONAL SUMMIT ON BORDERS

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Brian Masse MP (Windsor West) is currently in Washington D.C. as panelist at the International Summit on Borders. This two day conference is taking place at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Centre and is an annual gathering of global leaders with a focus on the intersection of international trade and travel with homeland security and other transnational threats. Masse is proud to represent Windsor and Canada with continued advocacy on an international level related to border issues.

Panel discussions will address and compare the experiences of the Southern US, Northern Ireland and the Windsor-Detroit border. The panel will be moderated by Ambassador Arturo Sarukhan, Former Ambassador from Mexico to the U.S. and will focus on the impact of border controls on urban and other populated areas that span international borders. Discussions will concentrate on how perceived national level threats impact cross border dynamics and how such impacts can or have been addressed. The session will also examine trans-border metro areas and the impact of security and border controls on these interdependent economies and the historic ties between these closely connected border communities.
