Community, Human Rights, Public Safety
Recently we have seen in our community several incidents of racially motivated vandalism. This is an unfortunate reminder of the terrible forces that we cannot ignore who seek to divide us by spreading hatred and ignorance. Diversity is today, and has been over the course of our history, a strength across Canada and in our community in particular. Messages of hate, bigotry and intolerance are unacceptable and not reflective of the community I know to be open, loving and accepting.
I condemn these acts in the strongest possible terms and hope that law enforcement will bring these vandals to justice. Further, I call upon our community as a whole to continue to reject hate and further embrace inclusiveness as a core value that defines our future.
