Question Period – April 23, 2021

The Speaker: Member for Windsor west.

Brian Masse (NDP): Madam speaker, my home province of Ontario is deep into a devastating third wave. In Windsor-Essex, where many people work as essential workers, we need to cross over into the United States, and there’s been calls to get them vaccinated urgently in the United States as we have seen a deal arranged between Manitoba and North Dakota. We need to assure our essential workers are president-elected to protected.

The honourable minister.

Jennifer O’Connell (LPC): Madam speaker, I thank my honourable colleague for this question. We actually are grateful and implore more community partnerships to help ensure even more Canadians are vaccinated. We’re absolutely committed to working with provinces and territories to ensure that essential workers are vaccinated, are prioritized, and we will continue to advocate for that. We will also — are open an willing to work with additional partners that can help us because, madam speaker, we know that vaccines are an important part of stopping the spread and we thank our essential workers for their hard work.
