(DETROIT) – Today, Brian Masse MP (Windsor West), will attend the 77th Annual Midwestern Legislative Conference of state, provincial, and federal legislators in Detroit. He will participate on a panel regarding “U.S.-Canada Federal Relations and their Importance to the Midwest” with former US Congressman Peterson, Michigan State representative Amos O’Neal, MP Randy Hoback, and former Michigan Governor Snyder, chaired by Christopher Sands, Director of Canada Institute at the Wilson Center.
“This is the most important midwestern conference of legislators from the US and Canada that includes provincial and state members along with federal representatives to deal with issues of concern and collaboration. Having attended these events over the past 20 years I can attest to its effectiveness in helping to resolve questions and add momentum to reaching solutions,” Masse stated
At this year’s conference topics of discussion include cross border issues, food security, artificial intelligence, criminal justice reform, science, innovation, mid size cities revitalization, and better governmental oversight. An interesting presentation at this year’s conference will be about new media organizations that have been set up to cover state and municipal activities after the near collapse of local news coverage by traditional newspapers and broadcast outlets.
The conference being in Detroit this year is an opportunity to highlight important local institutions and sights including events at the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Henry Ford Museum, Greenfield village, and a state dinner at the Eastern Market. The conference is taking place at the restored historic Westin Book Cadillac hotel.
