MASSE ASKED THE GOVERNMENT DURING QUESTION PERIOD TO FINALLY ESTABLISH SAFE BORDER TASK FORCE TO SOLVE TRAVELLERS’ PROBLEMS
(WINDSOR) – Today, Brian Masse’s MP (Windsor West), asked the government during Question Period in the House of Commons to establish the Safe Border Task Force, an endeavour he has asked for repeatedly since the beginning of the pandemic. The task force would have constituted stakeholders from all sectors including businesses, unions, municipalities, and agencies who would have anticipated problems and provided solutions to issues and concerns that have perpetuated and evolved during the COVID-19 public health emergency.
Masse asked the following question in the House of Commons during Question Period:
“Mr. Speaker,
Canadians are facing a disaster at the border.
Preventable staff shortages are causing endless delays at our land crossings.
Small businesses are suffering, and Canadians can’t travel.
The NDP has called for a safe border task force since the beginning of the pandemic that will work with all sectors to relieve this pressure.
But the Liberal’s refusal to act has led to confusion and frustration.
These problems are not going away,
Will this government finally put in place a safe border task force that will help Canadian travelers?”
