MP Masse fights for families as Liberals stand by on credit card gouging
NDP Critic for Innovation, Science and Industry, Brian Masse, made the following statement:
“Starting today, the credit card fees that businesses pay can now be passed along to people. As NDP Critic for Innovation, Science, and Industry, I’ve been advocating for years to stop credit card companies from taking advantage of consumers. It is disappointing, but not surprising, to see the government take no action when the cost of living is already so high to stop credit card companies from making life more expensive for families.
As a solution, New Democrats have been calling on the government to step in to help small business owners and families by putting in place a cap of one per cent on all merchant fees that credit card companies are charging. It is my priority to use all the tools at my disposal to make this happen so you can keep more
money in your pocket.
Credit card companies are doing just fine, it’s the hard-working people of Windsor who are dealing with an affordability crisis. New Democrats will stand up to huge corporations and rich CEOs and fight to make life more affordable for Windsor workers and their families.”
